A NEW LOOK FOR PUBLIC HOUSING

Arthur Capper Dwellings
Washington, DC

In 2001 the District of Columbia Housing Authority in partnership with other city agencies, and with the aid of its private development team including Forest City Enterprises, submitted a HOPE VI application to HUD for the redevelopment of Arthur Capper Dwellings.  This former public housing complex was demolished to pave the way for a modern new development. Hudson was selected to provide the equity financing for this project, which together with the revitalization of the Navy Yard and the Southeast Federal Center, forms one of the largest urban redevelopment areas in the country in an outstanding location between Capitol Hill and the Anacostia River.  The area has direct access to public transportation, proximity to Capitol Hill, and a growing employment base.

Hudson Housing is proud to partner with nationally recognized developers and local housing authorities to replace out-dated public housing with new residential communities that contribute to urban revitalization efforts.
