The Tides is a development of one-bedroom affordable units for seniors in downtown Los Angeles. Sponsored by the non-profit Los Angeles Housing Partnership, this small property stands up to its big urban neighbors, making a strong architectural statement. The apartments are built above a parking garage and are arranged around an interior courtyard, providing a quiet environment in the heart of the city. LAHP and Hudson Housing had to work carefully together to address both construction and environmental concerns both prior and during construction. The result of this collaboration is a jewel in a neighborhood of historic buildings and busy streets.
